Park & Ride
Cardiff is a terrific city, whether you work there most days, pop in for shopping or like to take advantage of all the great events the city hosts. But more and more cars clogging up the city centre streets can spoil the very place we’ve come in to enjoy. Cardiff has 3 separate Park and Ride sites at:
- Cardiff East (just off the A48 at CF23 8HH) open Mondays to Saturdays
- Cardiff West (Cardiff City Stadium) open Mondays to Fridays
- Cardiff South (County Hall) open Saturdays
Cardiff East is located just off the A48 and can be easily accessed from either east or west on the M4. From the East, come off at junction 29 of the M4, take second exit and follow signs for Park and Ride car park. From the West, come off at junction 30 of the M4, take third exit on the first roundabout and then the second exit on the next. At the next roundabout take the second exit on to the A48 heading towards the city centre. Take the first exit on the A48 and follow signs to the car park.
- Route X59 operates every 15 minutes to the city centre (Mondays to Saturdays) or every 30 minutes (Mondays to Fridays) to Cardiff Gate Business Park
- Route H59 operates every 20 minutes to UHW Heath Hospital (Mondays to Fridays)
X59 to the city centre - It makes a lot of sense - plenty of room to park and it only costs £4* if there is one person in a car or £5* if 2 or more people are in the car. The shuttle buses will whisk you in to the city centre in about 18 minutes and depart every 15 minutes. We drop you off and pick you up again right in the heart of the city centre at Churchill Way** – what could be easier? You can also buy tickets on our iff app - with multi-buy options for commuters. Early birds can Park & Ride for just £2 per car for 1 person or £3 for 2+ people before 08:30 (Monday-Friday).
H59 to UHW Heath Hospital - buses run between the Park & Ride site and UHW Heath Hospital between 06:30 and 19:15 Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). This service is fully supported by Cardiff & Vale NHS Board and is free to use. For staff, please show your ID card to the driver.
The site is closed and locked after the last bus has arrived.
* A special fare and extra buses operate for certain events in the city, see below for more details
** On event days buses may operate into Dumfries Place instead of Churchill Way
